With brachioplasty we remove excess skin and subcutaneous fat with an incision at the inner side of the arms. Skin closure is done with resorbable stitches. The operation takes about 2 hours and is performed under general or local anesthesia, depending on the extent of the problem.
Do I need liposuction together with the arm lift?
In some cases, when excess fat is present, arm lift can be combined with local liposuction in order to improve the aesthetic outcome.
What should I expect after surgery?
Hospital stay is unusual. The patient returns to work in 3-4 days, while manual labor is allowed after 2-3 weeks. Bruising and swelling is present and subside gradually. The use of a special elastic garment for 1 month helps to avoid complications. The operation scars on the inner side of the arms are long and thin and their appearance improve significantly with time.
