Lip Augmentation

Lip augmentation is one of the most popular aesthetic treatments and can be achieved through various methods, with either temporary or permanent results. The most commonly used technique involves hyaluronic acid fillers, which provide natural-looking enhancement lasting between 3 and 6 months. For those seeking a permanent solution, options such as silicone implants and fat transfer are available.

The Procedure

Lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid fillers is a quick, in-office procedure that takes approximately 15–30 minutes. To ensure comfort, a topical anaesthetic cream or local injection is applied before treatment. Results are immediately visible, though mild swelling or minor bruising may occur, resolving within a few days.

About Lip Augmentation with Hyaluronic Acid

  • Avoid taking aspirin or any anti-inflammatory medications for 48 hours before your session.
  • Inform your doctor of any allergies or previous reactions to fillers.
  • Keep your lips well-hydrated in the days leading up to the treatment.
  • Applying lipstick or other lip products for the first 24 hours.
  • Exposure to excessive heat (e.g., saunas, sunbathing) or strenuous exercise for 48 hours.
  • Consuming alcohol or spicy foods on the same day.

Following the procedure, some swelling or slight bruising may appear, typically subsiding within 2–4 days.

Hyaluronic acid fillers create natural and harmonious results when high-quality materials and proper anatomical proportions are maintained. In our clinic, we use only premium, certified fillers such as Juvéderm®, Teosyal® and Restylane®.

DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS?

What You Need to Know

Yes, but the effect will be subtle. Most patients opt for 1ml for more noticeable enhancement. We recommend starting with a small amount and adding more if needed at a follow-up session.

Lip fillers are injected into the red part of the lips to increase volume. Wrinkles on the white part of the upper lip may require separate treatments such as laser therapy, Botox, or mesotherapy.

A Lip Flip is a different procedure designed to enhance the upper lip by slightly lifting it rather than adding volume. This is achieved using botulinum toxin (Botox) and lasts approximately 1–2 months.

No, as a local anaesthetic (either a numbing cream or an injection) is used, making the procedure virtually painless.

Hyaluronic acid is naturally absorbed by the body over time, and your lips will gradually return to their original shape without sagging or losing volume.

Common side effects include mild swelling and bruising, which resolve quickly. In rare cases, complications such as asymmetry, migration of the filler, granulomas, or allergic reactions may occur. This treatment is not recommended for individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have active infections (e.g., cold sores), or have a history of allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid.

Yes. We always recommend a gradual approach to lip enhancement to ensure a natural result. However, if you are unhappy with the outcome, the filler can be dissolved using hyaluronidase, which restores the lips to their original state within a few hours.

The cost of treatment depends on the desired level of enhancement and the brand of filler used. Your plastic surgeon will discuss the options and help you choose the most suitable treatment plan.
